Profile

AI: Aerospace Innovation GmbH was founded in March 2007 in order to provide complete system solutions and products in the aerospace sector. It was launched as a complementary evolution of AI: Aerospace Institute, which was founded in May 2000 within the frame of the Technology Transfer Program at Berlin University of Technology (TU Berlin).

AI: Aerospace Innovation GmbH and AI: Aerospace Institute are precursors for new and innovative technologies, providers of environmentally friendly and cost-efficient propulsion systems for terrestrial and orbital operation as well as centers of competence for strategic and technological aerospace-related questions. Due to a long-standing experience in research and education along with extensive and detailed experimental work, both entities are characterised by a unique technical know-how in the area of rocket and satellite propulsion as well as space system development.

Being close to the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (ILR) at TU Berlin, AI: Aerospace Innovation GmbH as well as AI: Aerospace Institute supports a closer integration of research, industry and politics.

Activities

The activities of AI: Aerospace Innovation GmbH primarily include systems engineering work for ground testing, flight hardware as well as complete system solutions and applications for a wide range of conventional and innovative aerospace propulsion.

The focus of work is the development, manufacturing and qualification of demonstrators, prototypes, flight hardware and products for customised propulsion solutions.

To date, the AI team has developed, tested and successfully marketed more than 50 propulsion systems for various terrestrial and aerospace applications.

The performance spectrum of the propulsion systems implemented includes thrust levels from 0.001 N to 5,000 N or total impulses of up to 25,000 Ns.

Furthermore, feasibility studies and development activities for innovative aerospace technologies and systems, as well as system and cost analyses (e.g. cost modeling for space transportation systems and space missions) and numerical simulations (e.g. FEM and CFD modeling) of complex dynamic processes are carried out.

Through the local space networks RIBB (Raumfahrtinitiative Berlin-Brandenburg) and BNA (Berliner Nanosatelliten Allianz), AI: Aerospace Innovation GmbH has access to production, optimization and testing capacities that meet the highest international standards, such as certified facilities for vibration, shock, thermal vacuum and radiation tests.
